We peer over WireGuard and BGP (BIRD) on the DN42 network. This page and our peering policy are still incomplete and will be expanded over time.
General policy
- We prefer multi-protocol BGP peers (IPv4 + IPv6)
- We expect peers to maintain valid ROA for their announcements
- We expect peers’ POP is within less than 20ms latency with at least one of our POPs to connect
- Peering requests should include the information listed below
Information needed
When requesting peering, please provide:
- Your DN42 ASN
- DN42 IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, or Link-Local IPv6 address if you use BGP-MP and BGP-Extended-Next-Hop
- WireGuard public key
- Preferred Hoshi node (see the open-for-peering list)
- Your endpoint (host and port)
- Contact details
- Other necessary info like MTU of tunnel
We prefer using BGP-MP with BGP-Extended-Next-Hop on WireGuard to establish BGP neighbors, if you need to use other methods, please let us know.
For the WireGuard endpoint port on our side, you can assumue we use the port calculated by this rule if not otherwise negotiated:
- Your ASN: 424242xxxx -> last 5 digits (2xxxx)
- Your ASN: 420127xxxx -> 3 + last 4 digits (3xxxx)
- Your ASN: 6xxxx -> 4 + last 4 digits (4xxxx)
